Hello, I am using WordPress 2.2.2 but now I got a reminder to upgrade to 2.3.1... But have anyone tried that? Inorder to test that I just installed that to a subdomain http://mahesh.minterest.com/ but I dont see any difference even in the control panel...except in the permalinks options A New option like this Numeric » http://mahesh.minterest.com/archives/123 and NEW TAGS If you like, you may enter custom bases for your category and tag URLs here. For example, using /topics/ as your category base would make your category links like http://example.org/topics/uncategorized/. If you leave these blank the defaults will be used. also if I upgrade then will that affect any part of the blog????
I haven't upgraded my existing blogs past 2.2 because I use several plugins that aren't compatible, and ones that my site couldn't do without right now. I did however launch two new blogs this week on 2.3. It's alright, but I'm definitely not in a rush to upgrade the rest.
2.3.1 is good. They recommend you upgrade to lower risk of exploits/hacking etc. Only noticable differences form a user perspective is the tagging and link to google blog search reather than technorati. The google one is a bit pants though, i preferred the technorati link in the dashboard.
Hello everyone.... I have upgraded my wordpress to the latest one here www.minterest.com....... I made a full backup of the site and then did that.... Everything is working perfectly no problem as of now....... Its interesting to note that if we enter http://www.minterest.com/gmail it goes to a post automatically....... and also if we change the slug then it automatically redirects all requests to the previous slug to the new ones....
We have recently completed the upgrade to Wordpress 2.3.1 for the Antiques, Collectibles and Auction News site (far right sig below) and posted the article about this here. The significant posting time difference was reason enough alone. We have numerous authors/contributors from around the world and cannot afford time-out issues to hinder these people. The other differences mentioned by previous posters above were nice but rather minor to our need for speed. The items that may impact your blog are generally related to plugins. We had to upgrade dozens of plugins during the upgrade along with replacing some that were not available on the new Wordpress version. Hope this helps!
I upgraded with little damage. Anything you've had from UTW will probably display an error (especially the tag cloud). I also had a major problem where every apostrophe was replaced with 3 ASCII characters, and it was extremely annoying to have to fix by doing a find & replace on every individual page
