Has anyone tried the following link building method: creating some piece of software, creating PAD file and submitting PAD file to software directories? Does it work?
Hard work is still required to build good backlinks. Manual submission to articles, sb sites, blogs, blog comments, and good onsite content. Judging from the lack of new material on this forum, I would say nothing in that regard has changed. No magic bullets.
Yes it is looked at as spam. You need links from a variety of websites and website types. Like blogs, wiki's, articles, and the list goes on and on. Hope this helps.
But what happens to people that really submit their software because...they want to promote their software...do they get banned by search engines? :S That would be stupid!
I have heard of this and there is software that will do the submission of such files to many directories but it clearly is spam.
I've heard of it, but haven't done it myself. Can't imagine why it wouldn't work though. You can also take all your articles and turn them into an ebook and then have that ebook sent to all the free ebook directories.
this method is done mostly for traffic (in a grey hat way) not for backlinks (this aspect is only a bonus).
