Have you survived a digg or have a high traffic WP blog?

I am looking to start a new blog, now this will be a busy high traffic one in no time but am worried about the hosting as WP can take up some resources..

So I am wondering who here has a high traffic blog (5k+ a day) or has survived a digg and what host you use?

    Thanks

Use plugin for chache, that will save you from high traffic.
If you are on shared hosting, digg will kill host

The more plugins you use, the more resources WP will consume. A vanilla WP install basically uses nothing compared to CMS's.

Using a cache plugin will help, but it's at the sacrifice of no longer being able to use dynamic plugins, like "Popularity Contest" and any other metrics-based plugins.

Well I have a medium traffic blog, around 4000-6000 uniques or more and I use a host from Dp! His hosting is really the best so far. Of course without a caching plugin my blog would have be over way before in the past..

Is that 4-6k per day? If so, are you on shared or dedicated, and what kind of bandwidth does your plan have its limit at?

I got 1K a day but to prevent any down times I have the WP-SuperCache plugin installed and XCache on the server

I get between 3k - 5k now but when the shows I cover are on it goes to about 8 - 10.

I have never had a DIGG, but I tried WP Cache just in case and it did not work well with my GoDaddy Hosting.
I wanna try it again 'cause I've changed my theme and it has a lot of pics and whatnot

jesus...you must be paying a fortune for that. My service charges around $280/mo minimum for a setup like that...and that's with a "friends" discount!

OMG...that's what it costs to have a site with good traffic????
No wonder people swamp their site with ads.
