Have you opted out of CPM ads?

Just wondering if anyone has opted out of CPM ads and if you've done lenghty testing of what is more effective for earnings.

I opted out of CPM a few months back but really didn't have much data to work with for comparison. From what I did have earnings seemed to have remained about the same. On the plus side I got rid of some useless ads that were popping up like 8bestsites and topsites this and that without having to use url blocking.

I've read arguments in favour of CPM ads - eg. Google will only display them if they will earn you more money.

Then there is the argument that Google needs to stick the lowest paying ads somewhere so it might as well be your or my site.

    What's your experience?

CPM ads are better for the sites with lot of page views, but with the theme where user wants to stay on the site rather than clicking on the ads.
Such themes are ecards, Online games etc.

i used to opt out of CPM ads but went back to using them for two reaosns. Forcing an image ad fit really well in my ad integration and it made use of the many forum posts someone pointed out I was leaving on the table by not running them. I can't say they've made a huge difference but I do believe they help offset the adsense "bad days" from time to time, where I'd make alot less if I didn't have them. Bottom line, I think if you get alot of repeat traffic, your definately leaving money behind if your not running them.

You have to e-mail Google and ask for it.

Well on one of my sites, I was averaging 6-7 clicks a day and then someone decided to advertise on it for a really really low price. And today is the second day, both days 0 clicks so far...

I will monitor it for a bit longer
