Has any one improved their rankings with today's PR and backlink update, i see no improvement although my main site went to PR6 and backlink count up by 100.
AFAIK, PR has nothing to do with SERPS. Now PR is only usefull for co-op , link exchanges and link selling.
I beg to differ with u here, i believe PR is still a factor in SERPS although not as much as it once used to be, if it was not to be a factor then you would not have seen such big pr update threads here, everybody here is not selling and exchanging links, some of them are doing this to improve rankings which is the ultimate goal of SEO. By above, i dont mean to say that good SERPS are impossible without a PR7, but what i mean is a descent PR is still required to get descent SERPS, you cant get a page to rank with a PR0 or 2. Backlinks have also been updated, and i dont see any improvement in rankings even though i gained 100 more of them.
The fact of the matter is that any benefit you have from links you already feel the benefit from, the toolbar may have just updated but the value of links to you has already been applied before the toolbar update.
I would think that only true page rank has an effect on SERPS. Toolbar PR seems to be a completely different ballgame.
All sites increased, or remained the same. I was surprised to see a few new sites, which hadn't had any link building go to PR4. I did point a very small amout of co-op weight (like under 400) to the sites to get them indexed. Even though the sites had the same co-op weight, one of the sites has the inner pages also a PR4.
PageRank is still a factor, but Google takes PageRank into account internally long before it's shown publicly, so you aren't going to see changes any greater than any other day when the public PR updates.
digitalpoint are you saying that you have no doubt that the pr displayed is the same as the one google uses? BTW is it common that google shows no backlinks at all after an update. the pr for the site in question has jumped from 0 to 2.
The PR displayed comes directly from google - not sure what you mean. A PR2 means you have very few links or very few "quality" links. To get a higher PR you'll need more quality links- and from relevant sites - not a bunch of PR0 links from free directories.
