Have you found it harder to rank .US domains?

I'm struggling with an exact match .us domain.
Usually i would get .com .net or .org quite faster and with less effort, for about the same competition (low) but this .us domain of mine, is just stuck at page 5 or so....dancing a bit there, but no major improvement. It's been 2 months now, i know not too much but i've managed to get the general tlds within 2 weeks on page 1 for similiar level of comepetition.

Searching the web, i've found handful of other people complaining about the same, and of course bunch of blind google believers, stating that google doesnt make a difference, which would be my guess as well, if i haven't had this first hand experience.

Of course there are too many other factors, so i can't be 100% sure either. So if you've had similar experience and sound reasons to believe it's because of the TLD, please do share here :)

I can't speak to .us names but i have some experience with .ca extensions and know that achieving a higher ranking on google.com is much mpre difficult then google.ca.

I was told that a .com is best to get in order to rank well but .net and .org aren't that bad either. I don't the .us is that great because in my keywords there is no .us in the first page.

Depends on where you are trying to rank - if it is the US, then there is no difference between a .com. I have several top ranking .us domains in highly competitive niches that only target US and CA traffic. I registered a .us 3 months ago and it was receiving a fair amount of traffic after a couple of weeks - a few hundred in adsense - and this was with no link building. Now this particular domain it's not in a highly competitive niche, was an exact keyword match, and I don't expect any type of major traffic for at least 6 - 12 months, but that is the case with any new domain.

Geographic region plays vital role in terms of search engine. If the visitor searching from Canada the top results that shows by search engine will be from Canada and then others. If the top ranking is achieved in google.com there is no chance that the site will not be top in own geographic region.
