I have never rented opt in lists before but I want to *try* it once. Of course I do not want thousands of Spam complaints and all that but really want to try and see if the rentals do work. (cuz well..hey I could stop scratcvhing my head building a brand new list ;)) Has anyone tried renting these and how was your experiences?

And what sites did you use? (I can't seem to find a site that I could trust)

Don't rent a list - just ask the owner to send on your behalf...

http://pingadoo.com/forum/ - there will be someone there to answer your questions

Instead of renting a list, why dont you try and advertise in the newsletter of another related website that already has a big list of subscribers. However, you should make sure that the promoting site be very closely related to your website topic and your site should be of interest to those users/subscribers.

why rent a opt in list when you can buy advertising space on a large one for cheap, if their letting you rent it its obviously a spam list, becuase any one with a good opt in list would not sell it or even rent it its not smart.

True, no one in their right mind with a good opt in list would rent or sell it. I actually have a cousin who does internet marketing and I do not know what he's on but...he mentioned renting an opt in list and getting nice results. Ok, conversions are low but still even if only 0.2% convert from 600,000 list rented at $99....it's profit in my book.

I have lists that I built but never rented one. It's tempting though I must say.
