Have you ever lost 20kg/40 pounds of weight?

I need to lose this amount of weight, I'm sick of being overweight. But trying not to eat the bad foods and to eat less is so tough, it's like being addicted to cigarettes.

I am not interested from advice from people who are already healthy weight. All they say is "eat less", they don't understand a true addiction or what it is like to be overweight.

I want to hear from anyone hear who has done it, who has lost the weight successfully and kept it off. Please share your tips and advice.

    Thanks :)

hii there, i have lost nearly 16 kgs of weight not hit the 20 mark yet but here are some tips and advices.

    1) avoid junk foods with high calories.

    2) Do physical exercise walking and jogging in the morning.

    3) Join a Gym if not already

    4) Eat more foods which provide natural fibres they help in reducing weight as they contain lots of Poly unsaturated fatty acids

    5) and if possible try to avoid lunch just have dinner after having light break fast in the morning.

    6) and if u cant avoid lunch, eat pulses cooked and boiled or roasted ones in the afternoon or evening as snacks

i know its hard but i have done it and i am succesful u too can do it

    good luck

For me, it was quite easy. Once you realize that you wont be happy by what you eat, or smoke, or drink, or screw; you'll be on the right path. If you're lucky, one day eating will feel like an utterly pointless and unsatisfying habit. Ultimately, you need to spend more energy on losing calories, than obtaining calories. Drink LOTS of water! Don't eat 3 hours before you go to bed. If you do that, you'll generally lose several pounds. I did, atleast.

edit: ...oh yeah, eat less, more often.

I lost this amount of weight. For me exercise was not the answer - if you look how many hours exercise you need to burn of a set amount of calories you'll depress yourself.

The answer for me was changing the types of food I was eating and also avoiding alcohol except for one night a week. On the food front, don't mix proteiens and carbs in the same meal, e.g. eat vegetables and fish or veg and meat but not potatoes and meat. The next thing was to weigh at the same time each morning and make a record so you can track progress. To begin with you will have good success at losing weight then it becomes harder but if you persevere and don't set yourself unrealistic targets you will succeed. As i lost weight I exercised more - simply because it was easier and I enjoyed it.

Yeah I lost more than this actually. I just cut down my diet a lot, down to around 1200-1500 calories a day and tried to add in about 2-3 bits of exercise each week. Was a great way to get into shape and the weight went very quickly.

I did, but sadly gained it all back =( 30 lbs

Drink a lot of water every day, get enough sleep every night, eat healthier, a little exercise won't hurt.

That's a lot of weight. You will need some discipline, exercise and of course mental strength.

I haven't lost weight coz I'm already underweight although gained around 10 kgs in last 2 months. anyways I have seen a guy almost about 120 kgs or something lose great amount of weight withing a year he used to spend around 3 hours in gym every day. Now that guy looks like a NORMAL person... so yes it is possible

Eating less is not the way... eating healthy is what you should do.. Count the amount of calories you eat/day it helps

The tips from evolva is correct, but I would like to add one more thing: if you are drinker, reduce it, stay away from beer.
Anyway, I am 187lbs and I am happy with my weight. :)

I dont really gain weight no matter how much I eat.. so thats pretty relaxed.

I do think though that the best way to loose weight is to work out or go jogging.

    Good luck!
