Check out what I found floating around on FB and snagged the image (the user said he was deleting tonight): I think if I had absolutely no other alternatives that I'm likely to take the deal. But I'd want to read up on some FAQs to see what's the catch. And if no catch and their standards are truly that low, then seems easy to do. I can whip up 1000 words in less than 15 minutes; I'm a pretty fast typist. And I've already got plenty of content that I've personally typed up (mainly personal things/opinions) and have yet to put to use. It's just sitting on my hard drive collecting dust. Selling it for $100 to a seller with those low standards -- the lowest I've ever seen -- would be the quickest $100 I've ever made. Would you take the deal?
Absolutely, not. By the time I would've written those articles, I would've asked my neighbours if I can do some work for them (painting etc.) in exchange for some money because I'm short on cash. 200 articles, 500 words each.. that's freakin' 100,000 words.. At a rate of 1 word per 2 seconds, it's 200,000 seconds which equals 55 hours of work. Good that you would do it though. Oh, by the way. That's $1.81 dollar/hour earnings.
I sure would take the deal if I had no other options. It's too easy when selling my content that I've had collecting dust on my hard drive for years. It would be the easiest $100 to make doing it that way -- and that way only. It would be like having a garage sale of unused items on my hard drive. Easy money. I wouldn't want to sell my unused content from the jump, because though it's collecting dust, I do eventually intend to put it use to profit from a whole lot more. Now coming from scratch, psh, yea right! I think I have too much pride. But I'd have to be absolutely desperate, if you know what I mean. hehe. By your calculations, it may actually be worth it to folks in a different country where the USD goes further like doubles, triples or more. But yea for someone in the USA, by your calculations, under $2/hr for a one-time $100 to pay a single bill, that's unlikely to happen. Believe it or not, some (not all) people in the USA might even rather do something illegal (e.g. sell weed or drugs, steal a wallet, prostitution, etc.) and risk jail time, than get $2/hr writing for 2-3 days to help with that last little bit of cash needed to pay a bill.
It might depends because if it has good SEO and high PR then I might take the deal because then I would get a lot of backlinks along with $100 as a bonus. If the site has no PR or is lower than PR2 then I wouldn't take the deal as $100 is too low for my taste. So for me to take the deal, it has to be that the website is PR4 (MAYBE PR3) or above and allows me to have backlinks and pay me $100 then I just might to do it but I'd have a long thinking to do about it before I can answer if I would or wouldn't accept the deal. Getting $100 and backlinks on PR4 or above is worth a lot more than $100 alone, but PR2 or lower? No way.
It's funny you think about pagerank when you talk about articles. But I do understand that of course. The thing is, in this case probably the articles would get sold.
Yeah, in '90 when I landed in London there was no temp work to be had and I had an intermittent job (that turned into an awesome job later) but very little money after I'd paid my rent and tube pass (can't work if you can't get there). It was in the days before laptops and smart phones and I'd walk up to the employment agency twice a day to check in. I swear they gave me work in the end just to get rid of me. When I wasn't looking for work I'd change back into scruffy clothes and walk the landlord's dog (another trip past the employment agency's shop front and I'd wave as I went by). Back then it would have been a great way to supplement my income. It's not, however, a great way to earn a living and the person buying the services needs to be aware they aren't getting a professional level of service.
Sarahk, you had quite a life back then. Is the UK like a saving ground for the people from NZ, SA and AU? Sometimes, it feels like it is. Maybe not for Australians, but it feels to me that sometimes that New Zealanders and South Africans prefer the UK over their own land almost always. No?
SInce i was young i realized that there is always a way to make money without having to work for almost free. Even if its not a 9-5 job there are always ways to make an extra little something without having to work for somebody else. Use your hobbies, your passions or something you are good at or a need around you. WIth that said, writing 200 articles with 500 words is a lot of time for the money. It may sound good but calculate the time it will take you to do this and see how much you will get for per hour, if you think you can make money then okay but if not why not make your own blog?
You can do a lot with those articles. Write those 200 articles and then keep them for yourself. I would do this way
