Have you ever been on a website and clicked adsense ad to help the owner out?

So, instead you would rather hurt the publisher by not getting them the credit they deserve for a legitimate click?

Good answer glenndorsey. If you read these forums you would think that nobody ever does anything wrong and everybody is a saint.

Also I don't agree with these "hurt the advertiser" arguments. What about all those adwords advertisers that place crappy ads that point to equally crappy MFA sites and only bid 1 or 2 cents a click. They hurt me as a publisher.

I bet there's not a person in here who hasn't clicked on their own ads when they are on somebody else's computer but nobody will admit it.

I guess it's ok if you've surfed into the site whilst looking for something and see there are adsense ads relating to your search term, you may be interested in the product through the ad link. But if you are just clicking for the sake of it then it's probably morally wrong, but it would be impossible to prove your intention when clicking an ad, and it only looks suspicious if you click several in the same session and the website is local to you (but it might legitimately be local, if your search was local in the first place).

Keep it to ads that interest you and you'll feel warm and fuzzy.

Think about it this way. If your on a site, then the contents obviously interesting to you otherwise wtf are you doing on that website? So really the ads should be of similar genre so they should interest you aswell? To the guy who said if he sees an interesting ad he copies and pastes the text, I think that is worse to be honest. But yeh I can see why this could be seen as unethical, but you might actually end up liking the site you end up at ;)

I said yes, I have done it and I admit it, it is not a capital crime, nothing to be afraid about. In fact when that happens, few of us really know about Adsense. Though if you tell me to click now, no way no say.

The point i'm trying to make is...if you really want to help a publisher out...tell people about his site and let them click.

Your 1 click is drops in the bucket compared to the potential clicks he/she could get if you tell people about his/her site.

....now give me rep dammit ^_^

I used to click on ads all the time...until I became an Adsense publisher. Now, I never click.

The last time I clicked on an ad was by mistake. I was in GMail. Wasn't really paying attention and didn't realize it was an ad.:p

I do this to help out the little guys in business, mainly because I do not want to donate money to them
