    Yeah I've used the donate button plenty of times. Mostly for gaming and RC forums that I frequently read, useful scripts, artists and musicians sites etc...

    I've got a donate button on one of my sites, and people are usually pretty cool when you're giving stuff away for free.

    I donated thrice $5 each to make money online blogs. Two of those guys floated my blog in the donors page to have a nice link from their blog. Then only I came to know that this is also one of the best method to get descent back links...:)
