Hello, as you all know google is being weird for everybody. What i can't understand is how one of my sites has over 700 backlinks, but there is a site with 2 on the first page of a term, and mine is not even findable. How does this work, anybody?

If your site is new then it is in the sandbox. If it is old then it has been penalized.

Is there a way you can find out whether the site is in the sandbox?

i dont think you are in sand box-- had you been in sandbox, your site wouldn't have shown up at all.

just keep in mind , Google considers more than 100 factors to rank a page and backlinks are just one of them -- are you sure your site meets the Google algo ( the little that we know about it !) on the other criterias ??

Not true at all. If you are sandboxed your are still likely to rank for your company name and some very narrow niche keyterms. I have sites getting hundreds of visitors from google that are still sandboxed.

Google is not suffering from any Bigdaddy problems. They simply made it harder to get ranked, by filtering out a lot of spam. It makes Google a lot cleaner, and Yahoo has also brought in their own sandbox too, only its about half as long as Googles.

MSN is the only major search engine you can get immediate rankings for over night.

A good way to know if your sandboxed is if you rank in MSN and Yahoo for your main keywords, but are no where to be seen in the top 1000 in Google. You are only going to be penalized if you are breaking their terms and conditions.

Is this true? If it is well that might be one of the reason why i cant find my site on some keywords which actually have a position just the other day. :)

Google is not suffering from any problems, they know exactly what they are doing.
They have have confused webmasters like yourselves so that there is no easy entry into google.
