Hello, I bought two domains and picked the catchier sounding name and set up my main site selling products. Now that its set up I want to use/promote the 2nd domain to get on organic searches as it has keywords in the actual domain name even though it doesn't sound as good. I'm not quite sure the best route to take. Here are the options I thought of but looking for advice on whats best to do; 1. Do a 301 redirect from 2nd domain to main domain as I heard this doesn't hurt main domain in terms of seo. But taking this route, can I still promote the 2nd domain in terms of directory submissions, articles, linking, etc or would that be a waste since its redirecting to the main site. 2. Do a whole separate site on the 2nd domain with a different look but selling the same products and slightly change text on the pages. I'm worried about duplicate content. I think I can use the same merchant account for both sites. 3. Set up a 1 page landing page on the 2nd domain that would redirect people to the main site when clicking on buttons such as "begin shopping" or enter our store, or something to that extent. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Yes, create a different site, make sure that the content is new and fresh on all pages! This is very important!!!! Also try to add different keywords you are trying to target!
I agree with Elite SEO Marketing. We just recently had a client that was in a similar situation. We consulted them to build a second site around his second domain:including shopping cart, etc. The benefit of having the second site also can be that you can test alternative designs and marketing campaigns on each site. Our client wanted us to focus on Google campaigns on one and Yahoo/MSN on the other. If building and maintaining another full site is too expensive, I would recommend building a smaller sleek site, with emphasis on contacting you via phone or contact form for quotes, pricing, etc.
