Have there always been gays and lesbians?

    Or is it some sort of fashion that currently exists because of the press/media/film,TV attention its gets. I mean the percentage of gays and lesbians today must be greatly higher compared to a century or two ago. A lot of lesbians, for example, are not always truly in love and its just a fad. I mean, a scientist would say the purpose of mating is to reproduce. Since gays and lesbians cannot do this, is there any point to it?

    I thinks it's just more acceptable now than it was 20 years ago so people are much more open about it but I don't think the percentages have changed much.

    Like PalSys said, read up on Roman history.
