Have Paypal shafted me twice?

I just got a refund on an earlier payment I made of around $1000
I was expecting to be credited with same amount back, but to my astonishment, it's $50 less than the original payment.

Now I know about Paypal's 2.6% fee on currency conversion, so I expect to be shafted for that the first time round. I don't expect to get a fair deal on the exchange rate, so that's fine.

But it now looks like I've been shafted again, or have I ?

There's no mention of any extra fees taken for refunds, so I should get the same back.

Of course the exchange rates change every day, so I didn't expect it would be exactly the same figure. I expected a variation upwards or downwards.

    But a 5% difference !!!!!

Come on, is that normal, in the space of just 7 days (bewteen making the payment, and being refunded) ?

Am I right to be pissed off or have I just been unlucky ?

It depends- it should list the conversion rate next to the original transaction and the refund- if it is just a fluctuation in currency values its just bad luck, and not anything paypal can help, if they have charged you another fee, then complain.
