I woke up this morning, checked my Adsense tracker and nearly shit myself when I saw that I was at about 70% of normal traffic (maybe less) for this point during the day. I immediately hopped onto DP (I don't have wordtracker on this comp yet) and checked my keyword ranking... About 8 of my biggest keywords (strangely none others) dropped about 13-20 places or more, from 1,2,4, 8-ish down to 14, 16, 3, 9998 (out of rankings), etc. So I popped those keywords into Google and... They're still up there. No changes. At least not in the SERPS I get... Now checking a multi-datacenter tool. Hmm, for one of them where I was #1 I'm STILL #1 on 36 of 41 datacenters. The other 5 ranked the KW at #10 even though Digital Point gave me a rank of #14 in the keyword tool. I've found it to be wildly unreliable before, but in this case it reveals a problem, which is more important than accuracy (still not sure where it gets #14 from when no datacenter showed #14 - and it does this all the time). Anyway, obviously my main concern is why the hell my keywords dropped. And they're quite specific ones. How would I find out if I'd been google bowled? Yahoo recently showed that my site had seen an increase of about 50% (800 additions) incoming links over the last couple months... that's nothing though. Ideas for me to check? Is there a Google Dance going on that I don't know about? Why are the DP ranks so wrong sometimes?
