I usually get around 300+ searches a day from Google, today I found my rankings to have completely dropped with just 12 visits, all the terms that bring me good traffic doesn't index my site anymore, i am still in google's index though and Im still ranking for a few (maybe less than 10) keywords and all my pages are indexed. Does this mean i am banned from Google or could this be due to a change in Google's algorithms which caused it? for over a year I've had constant traffic from google increasing over time and have never experienced this. Any feedback and similar experiences would be appreciated, thanks.
just another observation, i noticed i've dropped to page 2,3,4 of Google for different keywords which I had the top 3 for.
sure, may be had some website do the power keywords and they have more backlinks than you,so get you dropped.
same for me.. i used to get 4-5k unique visitors and now current only getting at most 2k. more than half drop. this thing happened just 1 week ago.. all my top ranking keywords are no longer ranked in the first couple of pages.
Check your source code that if there is some malware attack on your site or any hacker has put any sript in your site. this may be the reason in decreasing of traffic.
thanks for the feedback. @vivek i didn't find the site connectingto any unusual websites during the loading of the website, and chrome has a very strict malware filter so I am guessing if this was the case my site would be flagged in chrome. @tarakan that's really unfortunate however for me it has gone from 300+ to nothing.
My site dropped a few pages too. I think it might be the weekend google dance. I will try to be patient and wait for a few days.
There might be some updates resulting to fluctuations of serp, usually this takes few days or weeks, make sure your site will be more indexed...
generally a site is dropped due to the detection of violation of google terms, google generally takes a long time to detect them, it can b a small violation like overloaded keywords, an approach for fooling the algo, and many more.
Is there are a way to determine if this was the cause, because i can't connect this to any violation, also if this is the case could my rankings return later on? Thanks for the feedback everyone.
after doing some research, i found out that google has just released a major update to its search engine algo, the Google Caffeine update. check out matt cutts update on this. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/caffeine-update/
Yeah, i heard about it, however it was available on http://www2.sandbox.google.com separately (temporarily pulled down) and didn't affect the main search listings so it can't be the issue. also when caffeine was up, i googled my popular keywords to find it rank 1 or 2 spots better than in the normal search.
figured the reason behind it? my pages are all indexed though, they've just dropped to page 2 for the keywords, all of them.
not that i know of. nothing unusual. backlinks are normal, no sudden 'apparently artificial' backlinks or anything. Thanks for the input.
Did you made any changes, I mean onpage optimization before the ranking drop? Sometimes changing title, meta tags might also effect rankings.
