I recently bought some high PR backlinks, but one of my friends to me that PR is not as valuable as it was like 1 or 2 years ago. Is this true? Is it more important to have quantity than quality? example: What is better one PR5 link or three PR3 links? Thank you for helping me out
Relevancy is important, as well as PR. Theoretically PR is just as important now as it was 2 years ago, but there's more of a premium on relevant links now.
Keep in mind that the PageRank value of any link is approximately equal to the PageRank score of the page where the link resides divided by the number of links on that page. So you can't know whether a link on a page with a PageRank score of 5 is worth more than a link from a page with a PageRank of 3 unless you know how many links are on each page. You also need to know if the page is actually passing PageRank. If the site is obviously selling links, you need to check the PageRank scores of some of its most important internal pages. If the main page shows some PageRank but the internals don't, then the site may be penalized and you can't be sure that any of the links from that site have any ranking value.
I'd rather have a PR5 link than 3 PR3 links if all were from relevant sites. I think they are still worth what they were just don't pay over the odds.
Yep! This is true. Relevant links are more important than un-related high PR links. Nopes! Quality wins over quantity. In my opinion -- Three PR3 links coming from related site are better than one PR5 from unrelated. One PR5 link from related site is better than three PR3 links from unrelated site. Three PR3 links from related site are better than one PR5 link from related site. [ Some might not agree with this ]
Google update the Page Rank once in several months (There is no defined time for this update), so it (PR tool) will not display the true value of the sites which has got good number of links during this interval. PageRank only measures the absolute importance of a page, but doesn’t tell us how much Google trusts a page. Search engines internally label pages as SPAM or not SPAM. Pages labeled as SPAM are not trusted and their links might carry negative weight. So I believe it is always better to have link from relevant, theme based & trusted sites even if it is of low PR. What factors should be considered for Link Building? We should take care of the following factors: * Link page should be recently crawled or cache by the Google and other search engines. If a page is not indexed by search engines then there is no mean to take the back link from that page. * Link should not have Nofollow Tag as it will not allow the page to pass its PR & Google will not consider it as a vote for your site. * Link should be from theme based sites it will also help you to get more visits. * Link page should not have many outgoing links as it will dilute the PR benefit to the linked site. It is like same as if we distribute one cake to 10 people rather then 5 & it will automatically decrease the quantity for each person. * To get more traffic, it is better to take the link from high traffic sites. * Link should not from frame sites as Google can not read the content within the frames. * We should also check the IP add of the link page. Links from the same IP page can create the negative impression in Search Engines. * Links from trusted domain always have more value.. * Always focus to get good one way links as reciprocal links don’t create much value for the site. High quality & unique content is the best way to get quality one way link. * Don’t do aggressive link building for your site like purchasing too many links as you might be trapped into spamming. Getting the links is not the only thing but to get the quality link is more important. Always remember High Quality & Unique Content is the only way to get the quality one way link. It will help to get the one way links automatically without any extra efforts. This is one of the post of my own blog
PR is still part of the google search soup, but won't count as much if the linking site isn't related to yours. Personally I always look for related sites and don't care about the PR. When a relevant site links to mine I look at the PR as a bonus.
Context and relevancy are more important than volume. I've recently pushed to #1 an academic blog using 1 PR 5 link and a few PR1 and many PR0 backlinks. Now compare that to another site that languished because it was using MANY PR3 to PR1 backlinks that are not relevant.
Well, on SEO point of view you should take care of some points 1 Always go with quality 2 Always go with relevancy 3 If PR 2 link is relevant and other link have PR5 then PR2 link is better then PR5 4 Regular work on your site doesn't matter you are on #1 or down the SERPS 5 Always check broken links of your site B'coz one broken link can do the damage 6 Keep updating you content and try to add fresh content on your site 7 And most important thing is always remind that you are creating your sites for your visitors not for search engine
Don't get confused while building links, this question may be asked because of OP wants to buy links, other wise i don't care on which PR my page is, if it is one way link. And buying a link will never helps, you, if it is pr 3 , 4, 5...and so on..
