Have anyone tried building links using social bookmarking sites??

 

Yes. Besides backlinks they can send some traffic as well. See my signature for a list of social networking sites.

 

+1 on that! social websites can also bring traffic along with backlinks. depending on where you post of course! you can also get targetted traffic if your site caters to these social sites, such as a myspace layout site

I do that regularly. Actually, I pay a guy to submit pages to SB sites with dofollow links....

I have found this very effective - especially for news-based sites.

(Unfortunately SB services are no longer allowed on DP.)

Yep. Me, I use social bookmarking everyday. I got both traffic and backlinks from them.

If you are not learning about social bookmarking and web 2.0 I respectfully suggest you are doing yourself a disservice. I have been with a mentor group that is at the cutting edge of web 2.0 and I own many google page 1's for many terms. With what I have learned I can achieve page 1 ranking for keywords pretty much at will in the 50,000 - 2,000,000 competing range. My main site moves from #6 - 11 for the single main keyword -competing pages 56,000,000. I say this not to brag, but this is all due to a solid foundation in web 2.0 and social marketing strategies.

social bookmarking is a waste of time unless you have a unique and viral marketing type of site....

however it can help out the newbie sites to achieve some sort of traffic,,,,it will be very little though and un-targetted.

I suggest try blog commenting for high quality do follow back links.....pm me for link building services.

 

Other than the biggie (Stumbleupon), I get the most traffic from reddit.com.

A "waste of time"? I get decent traffic and lots of deep links to inner pages through social bookmarking. Since I started SBing a month or so ago, traffic is at record levels. Far from "a waste of time"!
