I have just saw the is a small link "put your advertisment here". If some one did put an Ads on my site, would i know about that? Will google pay just for the Ads placement or still have to have vistor click on it?

In January one company basically bought out my entire inventory, in almost every format. In February, another company has taken over, and it appears they've bought for the whole month as well! I'm not complaining, since if they outbid everyone for my site, it means they had to bid higher than what a normal ad would pay, so theoretically that means I'm making more off one click than normal. Or at least that's how I think this bid system thing works... ?

Yeah, they practically outbid everyone for nearly all the ad formats I run, from sky to leader to 468 to those small boxes to those big rectangles, etc. That's when you know someone has bought time on your site -- when they show up in all formats! :D

Okay, just read up some more on this, so theoretically publishers should make more from each click thanks to the advertiser having to outbid other potential advertisers, since Adsense displays the highest paying ad first and always. Of course, as mentioned, just because you get a lot of high paying ads, doesn't mean it'll increase your CTR. If anything, if you constantly have one add dominate a network, it's more likely that your CTR will decrease, as visitors will become used to the ad. Theoretically, anyway.

But to tell you the truth, my CTR has been reasonably stable at .8-.9, so I see no difference. The money has sure gone up, though, which is good. Of course, this could be because of the new traffic, but who knows.

I don't understand. How do you know some company has bought your "entire inventory"? How do you track it? Pls let me know.

You know when a single ad shows up on all your ad blocks, even on pages that has nothing to do with that ad? That's how you know.

About two weeks ago, a company bought CPM ads on my site. It lasted for 5-6 days and I must admit it was pretty annoying. The ads showed everywhere, always filling the entire ad-block - especially on the least relevant pages! (My guess is that on the pages of actual relevance they were outbidded by CPC ads). I didn't see my income go up but it didn't go down either.

In any case I think google has a lot of refining to do on that system. The advertisers should be able to targety specific pages instead of, as it is now, entire domains. By showing the ads on non-relevant pages it's a loss/loss situation for both the publisher and advertiser.

Btw, I've sent a mail to the AdSense team, suggesting they somehow incorporates a "mix" between contextual ads and site targeting, allowing for targeted CPM ads :)

Google should give us means to decide on which pages we do NOT want site targeting.

    Ok thanks!

I don't fancy doing that because I don't like to view my own sites and create unnecessary impressions. The people who don't mind viewing the ads probably got like 10-20K impressions per day anyway, so the effect is quite minimal.

Has a company paied to have an ad on your site when the "ads from google" disapears?

On the header of my site now, there is an ad for a dating blog, and it doesnt say anything except their ad, but goto another page, and below each ad it says "feedback ads by google"

Cheers for any reply to this, i've wanted to know this for some time - this forum is great! yay!

Thanks for the stat update. Good to see that you are making more money off it :)

.8 to .9 is pretty low, has it always been standard for your site?

What sort of site is it? forum? content?

I've blocked a competitor site from listing their ads on my site...but reading your posts-maybe they could have been a high paying ad. Do you think I should unblock them?
