I work in a e-commerce site, it is really lucrative if you have a great product and dominated the SERP competition.
you have to do a lot of research and work on your websites for a long time; it is possible and it would be worth it if you set everything up properly.
The most difficult part will be in determining how you'll talk customers into buying products from you vs. every other vendor selling the exact same thing. Known as your USP (unique selling proposition), you need to determine how you'll be different than all the rest. Find your USP, and marketing will be much easier.
am in the same shoes, though i know e-commerce can be a means of livelihood but i'd like to know the in's and out's or do and don't s of it.
We started with eBay in 1999 and here we are well over 10 years later. We have had other online stores, but currently ShaggyMac is keeping us very busy!
