Hey guys, i want to know if any of you make a living with your eCommerce site yet? and is it worth starting one??
Oh yes, plenty of people can make a living through their eCommerce website. Marketing their business and driving traffic to their site's just one step. One will have to convince the visitors to buy as well. Successful stores do both, and do so very well. Whether it's worth starting one depends on how lucrative the niche is. Electronics are very saturated and you'll find huge competition. Amazon sells everything so what will make you stand out? Choosing to be an authority in a non-competitive niche can get you places, but you'll have to work hard. There's not much in life comes free (or easy).
quite a few friends living on just by opening shop on ebay and have some hosting a blog shop. and if you count groupon as ecommerce, lots of deal sites these days, not just make a living. go coupark.com and you know just how active is ecommerce now
Some people tends to have 2 jobs. 1 full time, 1 part time. Most of the times, part time gains more money.
If you think that your idea is really nice and worth investing your time and efforts - try it and not ask from people whether or not you should so it. There is lots of money online, there are lots of niches. Better to do then not to and regret about it after.
I know people who do actually make a living through there Ecommerce website, and you can if you pull the right strings etc
I own 5 eCommerce sites, and they each profit around $5,000+/-. The down side is you need to hire people, and have alot of headaches such as shipping, taxes, returns, out-of-stock products, customer complaints hiring people, buying a building, buying for lifts, buying racking, buying boxes, I could go on for days. If you have a nice product, and you can get it to rank top 3 in the SERP you are going to make alot of money. Dont let anyone tell you it is going to be easy though. I actually started the ecommerce business, and then learned the internet marketing side of the business. You cant have one without the other.
Bottom Feeder is correct. We have many clients that make a very nice living with ecommerce, but they are in business and work very hard at it. It is more than just getting rankings and watch the money roll in. It is customer service, brand building, inventory management, etc. It also takes a decent amount of time to build a business like this up. http://www.activewebgroup.com

it is easy to make good flow from ecommerce, if you dropship using a real dropship supplier, and/or buy bulk directly from manufacturers, and use good inventory management software.
