My best advice I can give you is to learn learn learn, and test test test. Experiment with marketing methods until you find what works for you. Then stick with it and focus until you reach your goals. NEver give up. Use social media and build a large following, use forums, classified ads, blogging..there are tons of ways to market online.
I'm new here too but I can tell you the main secret to success in anything is persist persist persist and don't accept failure as an option. Also research as much as you can. Once you turn a project into an obsession then you are well on the way to success.
Success in any field depends on your mindset. Be prepared to learn and take action. Google is a great learning tool. Whatever you want to learn-just Google it and see the results you get. There are lots of videos on Youtube teaching how you do things as well. If you want to learn you will learn. It is up to you how hard you want to work.

You should give time in learning first, forum like DP would would teach you well, if you participate here regularly, I would say that at first provide services, work as a freelancer, this way you would learn a lot of things from your client and this thing would help you in starting your own business.
I will say this, whatever you do, the viability/profitability of it isn't the prime consideration. It's has to be something for which you have some degree of passion. That's a lesson I wish I'd learned way way way back. The best of luck...
Choose the method of marketing you will commit to doing consistently and get started. Are you willing to sit around all day posting classified ads and battling their filters? Do you enjoy creating videos and getting in front of a camera? Are you a good writer, blogger, or copywriter? Choose a method, learn it, and put it into consistent daily action.
Trying building relationships over making quick sales. I have recently learned that if you can build rapport before you go for instant gratification, you will see much greater yields on your profits!

First things first, before you start a new venture, you need to sit down and figure out a business plan. What are you going to sell? Products, services? Affiliate programs can also work if you want to become a publisher, content provider or try your hand at SEO. There are many, many ways to earn money online if you know what you're doing. Try to see outside the box. Every problem is an opportunity to provide a solution, what type of problem do you want to solve is really the question.
Build a website, copy contents from other sites and put it on your site, put lots of ads on it, get a spambot, and spam forums! Trust me, it worked! I earned $1000 in adsense in just 3 days!
