Joining too many affiliate programs: Affiliate marketing is a sure money maker and hence there are number of affiliate marketing platforms out there to suit your needs. The mistake I did when I started affiliate marketing was that I joined as many affiliates as I could. You would say how is that a mistake? Let me explain when you join multiple affiliate programs you try to promote as many products as possible and this shifts your concentration. You will not be able to concentrate on any one product completely and it will effect your earning. The trick in affiliate marketing is to start slowly and then make your way up. There is no need to rush up with affiliate marketing because if you do so you will end up wither wasting your time or money or both. Not buying the product you promote: Your main goal as an affiliate marketer is to promote a product convincingly and with confidence. If you yourself have not used your product, then how can you convince your prospect to buy the product? Yes, I can hear you saying that I can’t afford it or it is too expensive. Mark your words because your customer will say the same things before returning from your page without buying. Think from a customer’s point of view. That’s why I follow the principle that promote products about which you know something. If you think your product is too expensive to buy then promote a cheaper product which you can test. Your $/sale will be low but because you have used the product yourself you will represent it in a better way to your customer through your ad or landing page and that will increase the chance of making a sale. You may say why do I need to try the product to promote it when the landing page is available at the merchant site with all the qualities and details of the product. The reason is that the merchant thinks from a merchant’s point of view while you will see the virtues of the product from a customer’s point of view. That’s the reason why you should buy and try the product you promote. If you avoid the above mistakes you will save your time and money both and will be a step ahead then the other people starting their affiliate marketing ventures along with you.
