    So I have around $1000- $2000 to spend on starting a business. I don't really know what kind of internet business is hot right now. Of course it would be better if it can last in the long run.

    My current plans is to start an advertising network, something like adengage. So how do you guys think I should go about doing this? starting from getting advertiser, promoting it to potential publisher, all that stuff. If you have a better idea on how I should invest this money, please share here! Thanks, I need ya help with this.
    :)

    Starting an advertising network requires much more than just domain, hosting and a little promotion: you have to have a real offline business (you know - with office, call center, layer, customer support, a conference room and a coffee machine :D ). In a few words the money aren't enough. Also the advertising networks business is dying : you can't compete with Google, Yahoo, MSN and the smaller networks, right?

    What you can do with $2000 is to start an affiliate business. First find some good niches, hire a few content writers, an seo specialist and web developer and create few websites, promote products when you see the traffic coming, build your email list (the most valuable thing you can get from your websites) and hopefully after few months you'll start to see a sale every day. You can reach full ROI in just a few months and you'll have some websites, small email list with potential customers and a steady traffic stream. Think about that, research your options, than if you have any questions post in that thread and I'll be glad to help.

    well I don't see why you couldn't do that?
    First of all this small business you will not need a tax budget you are going to show a loss. Second you don't need an office, secratary and all that you are working online. Until like a year ago you couldn't call PayPal, what is wrong with your cell phone number and your room for your office?
    Brokering someone to get them advertised elsewhere seems pretty cut and dry. Based off of this info I would suggest:
    A really professional website, REAL CLEAN. This is going to be your face, DON'T CUT CORNERS HERE.
    Then you need to hire someone to optimize. Luckily on here you can find some pretty good people to do this long term for a couple hundred a month, that gets to spread your money out.
    This is going to take you a few months to get free traffic from here for your business. As long as you have a clean, professional and informative website about what you are doing, soon emails of work will start coming in. Again make sure the website is coded and designed perfect.
    After site is up and SEO is going on you need to use some of your money to buy leads. Hopefully you can find a good source of long term leads that are converting so you can continue buying. The rest needs to be in the bank for ongoing expenses: advertising, costs, continued SEO, costs of doing business ect...

    also, assuming your in the US since this is a service based a sole proprietorship business license is max $100

    Who needs an accountant or a lawyer for a business so small?
    We are on a public forum, we all misspell. For example in your last comment quoted you misspelled:
    neer -> near
    definatly -> definitely
    misselling -> misspelling

    Dude you can listen to some guy who contributed -0% to your thread and claims to work for google :rolleyes:, or you can go out and start the business you want and buy Quickbooks, cause you aren't an accountant :rolleyes:

    Ads network is too huge the competition,you need at least $50k be establish a well know company.
    For your current budget,i can tell you to setup webhosting company.You can easily make profit from webhosting company such as earn at least 20% of your investment.

    the Ad Service is usally a fight between Epic Monstrous Sized company's and peddlers who rely on cheap tactics like adbux who pay they're users 0.00012$ to click a ad every day, though, if your looking for a niche, and a subject to go into, i would like to talk to you. i will send you a PM now.

    Thanks for all your replies. First of all, I would like to say my goal is not to beat google or yahoo, thats absolutely ridiculous. I just want to be an average like adengage, thats the perfect size you want to be ( it would be good if I can be like adengage). I personally feel I don't need a physical office for this to work though.

    I see threads talking about starting own incentive sites..what do ya think about this? Is it still profitable?

    And of course, if you have any idea or partership you wish to offer me, go on!

    I just posted this in another thread but I think you should seriously consider PPC. You have enough money to get started and even make some mistakes along the way. Also, it's sustainable. You'd develop the knowledge that would ALWAYS enable you to make money on-line.

    Good Luck,

    He can operate as a sole proprietor. He does not need to set up a business in order to do this. In fact, there is little benefit in setting up a business until you are making >50k a year. Once you start making a considerable amount of money it make sense to operate under a business for tax purposes.

    I'd start blogging, invest some of the money for a unique Blog Design and keep the rest meanwhile. After some time you can open a topic where everyone can trackback from his blog and win something. So you don't need to invest all the money, get backlinks and can still earn some cash.

    What do you think about that?

    I think you need to do alot of research before starting a business, like to see how much it would profit, what are the risks and what are the requirements, and if its worth it, then go for it
