I have two red reputation thinngys, both saying "you are pathetic", and I got these as I told someone that my site was not just stealing results from one other engines, should Reputation (which affects how people think of you) be so.. harsh. I mean "you are pathetic" makes me feel rather upset.
That is the way it is around here, welcome to Digital Point, instead of fair debate some would rather ruin other members. Don't let that stop you from posting honestly
People are real tough when they can remain anonymous. These are the same people, that in person, wouldn't even have the guts to look you in the eye. So don't worry about it.
I agree 100%. Spineless acts by spineless people. I gave a bad reputation to a guy once @ another VBulletin forum; he cheated me on a deal. After I gave him the rep I let him know it was me right off the bat. The owners of most of these forums see what's really going on so I wouldn't worry about getting banned. AmCy
I'm sure posting more about how much you hate the reputation thing will get you plenty of positive repuation points...lol Your reputation is still green and nobody would have known that you even had any red if you hadn't posted about it. Unless you really upset a site admin or another staff member a couple of red reps aren't going to affect how others on this board view you. Should people call you pathetic? No!!! It seems to me like you gave them what they wanted though. They now have a reaction from you and they probably feel important now that what they have done has been mentioned. The good news is that they can't add to your reputation now until they add to quite a few others peoples'. Maybe by then you will have dazzled enough people with some great posts and your rep will be very positve.
If people are going to be nasty and not leave their name, they are cowards. I've said the same thing in other threads before. Don't worry, you are not pathetic. I do understand how annoying it can be though.
welcome to the internet !!!! where annonimity rules, some things that i have seen posted on the web,,,,if it was said within earshot of me, they would be pushing up daisies. So annonimity is sometimes a good thing.... keeps the body count down.
Speaking of negative rep, I just checked mine and found that you now get negative rep for posting in a forum deemed to be incorrect. My post was moved to another forum from the Google threads even though I posted it there because I added the isapi rewrite filter because of Google, as I'm trying to regain my google rankings. So be warned, the forum police will hunt you down and shoot you with bad rep if you post in a fourm the gestapo deems inappropriate. (I wonder how long before I get negative rep for this post?)

Are you sure about that? I didn't think that was ever the point of the reputation system. Can you cut and paste the notice that gave you negative points for posting in what was deemed the wrong thread? Because I like you don't always agree with Shawn's view of what thread a particular message should be in. Of course the answer is "don't start any new threads" then you can never make the terrible mistake of chosing the wrong one. And of course if you never post then nobody can ever get upset and give you a negative vote. Then of course if you carried this logic to it final conclusion there wouldn't be any forums at all.
i just checked my reputation and see '9 points total'. what does that mean? there is one negative rep. with no comment :-/ i agree the reputation thing is quite pathetic and i wish it would go away.

Oh i don't think it's pathetic, I like it actually. I find it amusing. the 9 points is the amount of rep you have (you start out with 10). If someone didn't leave a comment, then that bites, but you won't know who gave it to you.
i know which post i got it for. and, honestly, i believe it's the best post i've made to date on these boards.
Then take pride in the negative rep, and keep speaking your mind in an honest, mature manner at the end of the day, it ain't a big deal either way if someone likes what you wrote.
If you guys are really worried about it, just vote for everyone in this thread that gave support to the thread starter and vote for me too while you are at it because I take a hell of a lot of hits for telling it like it is around here

Why is the rep system anonymous? It'd be easy to tag the giver/taker's username to the rep hit surely?
