Hate comments and hate mail

Has anyone here received mail or comments on your blog that was malicious, profane or hateful? I'm just curious to know if any bloggers are hated for their opinions or the way they lead their lives. And how do the receipients deal with it?

I recently got my first hate comment on my blog. I have been over the moon since. *grin*

I have worked on customer support for some information products and I have ran various blogs and I have seen and recieved a lot of hate mail and comments. Some times I just delete and ignore, some times I send a sarcastic message back, some times (if I think the person is gullible enough) I threaten legal proceedings. Some times I hit them with a furious essay so long detailed and passionate they have no other option but to feel like an ass and apologise.

I have to say, if some one feels strongly enough about what you represent to comment in a negative light, whether they like you or not, it doesn't matter. They've noticed you and you are pushing their buttons. You are probably pushing other people's buttons as well, which is no bad thing because it means you are getting people's attention and reaching people. Controvesy is such a powerful marketing tool, use it wisely!

 

Unless they are unbelievable lewd, I usually let the comments stay posted.

It normally shows how stupid they are. But sometimes (not in the two cases I've listed) they can generate debate.

 

Usually, means your going in the right direction. Any publicity is good publicity!

 

Well, if you can rise up a controversy, it means that your post carries its own weight~

 

Just ignore it. Everybody has their own opinions and their own opinions are always correct because it is what they believe. I have recieved many, because I believe that "Everybody is successful in their own right".

 

Ive never had anything like that, but i dont write about things that would upset anyone.

 

Nine times out of ten these people will return to your blog often to see if you have had the guts to post their copmment or replied to it.

 

Happens all the time. Typically the people either have nothing better to do or they're jealous that you have a website and they don't.

Normally I'd leave the comment since it just makes the commentator look like a fool, but anything profane or racist gets deleted. (Deleting the comments is great, because the commentator gets even angrier and keeps coming back to post more comments!)

 

you get it everywhere i'm afraid... some people are just like it... some arrogant, and not everybody will see things the way you may, so you've got to expect some flak here and there

 

Well, you know. You shouldn't be worried about that. Everyone of us have those time yeah? I've never got hate comments in my blogs, but I have got a negative comment once. disable comments, simple... technique......then ensure your email addy is not visible on ony posts, use something like wp-gbcf no more hate mail... parphrasing UIS4821 (and in the word of oscar wilde) the only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about....

this is call link baiting, sparking controversy and comments...meaning people are talking about you and traffic increasing...

I hate only those spamming comment. Eventhough the comment is nagetive, it will be much better than spamming

I've never received hate COMMENTS, but hate mail for sure. I get it all the time from people who I have tried to supply constructive criticism to.
