My cat bites me sometimes, good mood / bad mood whatever. Cats are a little sadistic and like that whole violence thing. Last few times tho i chased it away and now it thinks a little before biting, but still does it.
Wifey tried that with me, I just take the money out and get myself a full can of beer. As for doggies growling for touching 'their food' that behavior begins there, if you don't stop it there, soon it will be 'their couch' 'their room' 'their house'. This is a sad story of how many dogs end up being abandoned, or euthanized for hurting someone. I've been know to take food away from pit-bulls to show I was boss. Piss them off, sure does, I just bit them first(meaning with my hands). Calmed them down, and they acted so happy to get the food back, like they were grateful. Disclaimer: Our dogs were raised right from the start, and I was comfortable with them. later, tom
I agree with tom in terms of training, but i am sure you have heard that you cannot teach an old dog new tricks ? My dog was always a bit funny about food, in the end i just used to feed it in a quiet place and let it eat in peace. Maybe its not correct in terms of dog training, but it did solve the issue. Neil
My Bernese Mountain Dog weighs about 125 lbs. He's never bit anyone, but sometimes he'll lean on somebody and knock them over...
I had a kennel we raise dogs for the police and also train "body guard" dogs. If a dog bite you no barking or anything telling you that he might bite you. Like you taking his food, taking his sleeping place? He might be in his grow up mode like 2-3 for rottis. Were the dog try to tell you he is boss and he feels you scared he will go one and you need to stop it to show him that you are boss. If you do not do that he will soon be the king of the house. If its a nice cute dog like a lab or something he might have a sickness that make him bite. But i need to know more about your dog before i can tell you. My dogs bitten my more then once but most times when i go and try to seperate them fighting.
It's a pretty serious issue. A pet, particularly a dog, should want give its life for you, or you need help. I have always had boxer dogs (4), and believe me they are wonderful and would never attack me or anybody in my family. Only a stranger if we are perceived to be in danger (could be tricky sometimes when you're joking with friends). But my girlfriend has a Chow and she has been bitten, not exactly attacked because at times the dog goes mad when he sees other animals or is treated roughly. My GF is rough when she's in a hurry, and so was his brother when he was bitten. But amazingly he never bit me, most likely because I am always calm when with him, always, but firm. It's like delaing with kids, always calm, never loose your temper, non need to hit them or treat them badly, but also always firm and authoritative. It's easier said than done, but I think it's the way. In your case I would find out if it's a one off or if the dog needs training. Unfortunately training won't work easily if the dog is too old to learn, but could do great if still young. Good luck!
