This depends a lot on the keywords though. I have a YPN account and I also have a Google Adsense account. YPN pays so much more it's ridiculous. Using Google for me really isn't worth it. I think it depends on the content of the site.
It absolutely depends on the sector of your site. I am running adsense or YPN on over 60 sites and there are more and more sectors where adsense is now currently paying more (one of my highest traffic sites has adsense paying double per click vs YPN and the ads are relevant with both (usually the same advertiser) on this site). As a general rule, YPN is still paying more, but you also have to include other factors - i.e. YPN doesn't pay on foreign clicks, adsense does - so if you have a good percentage of International traffic you should use geo targeting. It's actually against the TOS to show YPN ads to anyone outside of the US, although in practice, you aren't going to get terminated unless it hits a certain, undefined percentage (the official answer you aren't to have any). While YPN can have a higher payout, the CTR is lower than adsense so as a general rule, you'll get more clicks with adsense than YPN with the same amount of traffic. I run with whatever program is netting me more. You also have to remember that foreign traffic pays less per click, so if you are geo targetting to show adsense to foreign visitors, your adsense payout is almost always going to be less per click due to the fact you aren't showing adsense to the higher paying us traffic. To get a good comparison, you need to show adsense and YPN to the same US traffic and then see which is netting you more. Adsense also has smart pricing, so if google thinks your site is a MFA or non-authority site, you are going to get paid less. If google deems you site of higher quality, then the payouts will often be equal or more.
Good point... my site does get mostly US traffic but yeah you obviously end up using whatever pays more. Yeah I also noticed that Adsense just seems to be better targeted and so it gets clicked more but my YPN just pays much better per click (again, because of the content I have). Thanks for the in depth look at Adsense and YPN
I have experience only with Adsense, but can somebody say what is main difference between Adsense and YPN and for what each one better pays?
I'm definitely no expert but what I can tell you is that I have both YPN and Google Adsense and YPN pays more for me. This does not mean it will always pay more. Sometimes YPN pays better, sometimes Google does. It depends on your site's contents, keywords, etc. YPN accounts are difficult to come by. I'm not even sure if they're accepting new people. Many people are offering to buy them if they can.
