Hello, I've installed W3 Total Cache plugin on all my sites (I have 7 WP installations on HostGator's Baby plan), because they were getting slow. I don't know much about caching & stuff, but I enabled everything with default settings: 1) Page Cache 2) Database Cache 3) Object Cache 4) Browser Cache I didn't enable Minify because I've read it could affect AdSense. So, with these settings I should be fine? My WP sites are mainly serving content to mobile apps. Your help is much appreciated! Thanks. Hello - Google AdSense seems to work OK, but Google Analytics is busted. The pageviews wen from ~500/day to ~5/day. I don't use Minify. What could be wrong?
Minify could affect adsense because it modifies the AdSense code and modifying the code as you know is against the TOS. So it's better to skip that just like what you did.
I suggest dropping cache plugins if your site gets more complex than a simple wordpress site because those caching plugins can affect more than analytics and adsense. I have seen them affect themes and other plugins negatively. I spent a lot of time tweaking W3Cache and other caching plugins. I learned a lot about optimizing a web site correctly and decided to move sites making money to a VPS. You can get a decent VPS fairly cheap. I keep hostgator for sites that aren't bulky and don't have a lot of visitors.
Hostgator would be automatically minifying your pages, like any good host would, in order to save bandwidth. And no, minifying pages should not affect adsense or analytics, since they essentially call a third party script hosted elsewhere to do the job.
Btw check out WP Super Cache, it is much easier to configure and works quite well, especially when you enable it in modrewrite mode.
I already did, but I guess I didn't configure it properly, and I didn't see any effects. W3 Total Cache worked great out of the box, tho.
