I have been noticing that web directory link backs are showing less and less in Google. Has Google cancelled out the web directoy backlink? It sure looks that way. I predict that in 2007 click throughs will be crucial in determing PR and link back count for sites listed in Google. That means that homepage, featured and sponsored links will be crucial in building links in 2007.
Yes, I'm not sure where you are getting your info to support the idea that directories have started disappearing. My example: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=site:dance-forums.com/directory&btnG=Search Just like anything else, if you create a quality site, people and engines will show their appreciation. Directories are no different.
Please give us more details or proof. If it's true, many directory related people (owner of directory, developer of direcotry, link building expert) have to switch to other field. Thanks
I think google can't afford to remove directory backlinks especially since it sometimes depends on ODP and it would be near impossible to figure out if a site is a directory. Thank You
http://www.google.com/search?q=site:irkawebdirectory.com&btnG=Search&hl=en&lr=&safe=off It says 1700 indexed pages, where you see it dead ?
I'm sure that you're aware that Google does not list all of the backlinks when using the link: command? Just because a link is not listed doesn't mean that Google is unaware of, or not counting the link.
Hi, In links building 2007 will be crucial relevant context links exchange. Links must be placed in relevant context (in some article or topic on the forum). And the text where you link is located must be relevant to the page where the link leads to.
my directory has over 7000 indexed pages http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=site:www.1stchoicesearch.com&btnG=Search
Maybe he is referring to the fact that google appears to be devaluing links from directories since the last update or he might be referring to the fact that google is currently in flux and that backlinks are flux'ing quite considerable. I had over 80 back links a few days ago - today i have under 40.
It all depends how 'inventive' directory owners are. I do believe that your directory will drop off the cliff if you own one that has the exact same content as a million others. But if you add a little something else to it and start building around it, you're not dead. On the contrary, your original content will win you cushy rewards in the long-term. Keywords here : "Original" and "Long-Term". I have 13,700 pages indexed. And its all down to a little original content baby.
Not by a long shot. My directories indexed pages have grown steadily and continue to do so. 23,600 pages as of today.
i wasnt talking about the actually directory pages being indexed. i was talking about the actual links posted on those directory pages.
There are numerous reports of people getting pr4 or pr5 from directory links alone. I did this on one of my sites and got a pr4. In addition, directory listing anchor text is continuing to help me rank key phrases with increases in that last couple of weeks even, so I'm still not sure what you are getting at.
