    Hey guys,

Has your Adsense CTR and payout been affected by the global recession?

I was earning around $6 a day from adsense in November 2009, January im earning less than $1, my average $1.67 right now.

    What's your opinion?
    Regards,

The recession has no bounderies and will affect all forms of advertising hence the drop off in adsense revenue and in fact any forms of revenue, but i feel over the next 12 months it will start to increase again as spending budgets for advertising starts to return to normal.

Advertising is one of the first things that go in a recession - as companies look to cut costs advertising comes first on the list

First of all, I'll would say it's a "depression", not a "recession", but that's a side note.

YES, payputs are lower because advertisers are fewer and paying less. It's hard to spend money when it's harder to earn. It effects everything (domino effect). Fewer Person A's can afford Company B's products, resulting in less revenue for Company B to advertise. Company B has to lay-off more employees, who now cannot afford Company C,D, and E's products, resulting in less revenue....and around and around we go.

I'm from Spain (here the recession/depression is kicking hard) and earnings from Adsense have gone down 25-30%, at least for many webmasters. Now I'm earning more money, but only because I've been able to increase considerably the visitors.
