Has the optimization team ever contacted you?

The first message I received in my Adsense account scared me, I thought I had violated a guideline or something:

So, I went ahead and changed my settings. A few days later they sent this:

Has anyone else received these? They only gave me details on my largest site.

No, because I follow the Google's guidelines. But there's nothing to worry about. Just do what Google has instructed you to do. These optimization reminders will benefit your site eventually.

i've received the exact same thing for my largest site - its not bad... its actually good - follow their recommendations - they may have a specialist contact you directly for optimization techniques.

Has nothing to do with Google Guidelines. Google sent this out to 1,000's of webmasters recently. They are trying to get people to display more ads so they can make more money it's that simple.

But just because Google makes a suggestion doesn't mean it will make you more money. I test everything and their suggestions are not always in your best interests - but they are always in the interests of Google.

Based on this and another thread, it appears that Google is getting more pro-active about nudging people to optimize their adsense. It's probably a good thing overall. But webmasters should take the suggestions with a grain of salt. Every site is different, and what works in general won't necessarily work for you -- even if Google says so. Experiment! Test! Tweak! Then do it again.
