It would also be interesting to see what qualified as suicide in order to be included in your chart, Rob. Putting a gun to your head obviously counts, but what about pulling life support or reckless behaviour (drunk driving, for example) that results in death. From the looks of the spike in white males towards the end, they may be counting things like pulling life support, etc.
Good point, like people overdosing on drugs for example. Those can be accidents, they can also be done on purpose.

I think there can be a fine line. I've met people who I can almost guarantee you didn't really give a shit if they were going to die or not. That's how they drove, got into fights, just didn't really care. So my question is at what point does carelessness become officially suicidal?
I think you're walking a fine line if you are "indifferent" to death. It's almost like your not giving life and death enough respect. ...Not exactly suicide, but not exactly choosing to live either.
I've lost an aunt and an uncle to suicide, and I've seen the havoc its caused in my family, so its never been something I've considered :/

My view is that nothing is bad enough to commit suicide over. If you are typing on a webmaster forum, then your life can't be that bad. I had my parents beat each other's ass and call the cops on each other when I was younger, lost my best friends to drugs, lost the girl I loved to.... (I'm not really sure....), lost buddys of mine in the military to the war in Iraq, etc. But I have no beliefs that "my life is sooo bad", or whatever people tell themselves before they committ suicide. My Great Grandfater killed himself, and my Dad has suffered from depression, but what does that really mean? People too many times use excuses to feel a certain way. Sometimes life sucks, but how would we know pleasure without pain?

Anyways, I hope you realize that suicide is a lame escape that will only hurt those who love you. Be open about the things that are tearing you apart and talk it out with someone and realize there are people who have had it worse off than you.

I think that "sui" is jus really stupid at my school there has been one girl who killed herself no1 knew why. But her mum said she killed her self because of her cat! I couldn't believe she killed herself, because i would talk to her now and then she was really nice..... If you are thinking of killin ursel don't, think wot ur family has to go through <i take that from PlanetAndrea! I rest my case.
Geesh how old was the girl? btw the cat can't be the reason, unless you have some deeper issues there is no way you kill yourself to be with your cat.
