Correct but i dont think its a good thing as im sure they are somewhere as i dont think would just give up its best quality content filter The only real way of knowing now is buy using different tools to get cache dates and other info so as to know that the page in question is in fact NOT in the supps thx malcolm
If it's true that Google stopped giving importance to directories, would this just affect passing PR and we will still get a backlink affect for serps or would this affect both PR and backlink? I don't know these things so if anyone knows please let me know. thanks.
I suppose the only real way to see if your doing the submitter justice is checking his rankings and making sure that your somewhere within the results... the stronger the link the higher it would show in the top results... so i would think thx malcolm
Directories are not unimportant: Two of the most undervalued directories on the internet is www.Romow.com and www.DirectoryDump.com. -AvivaDirectory is a good directory but doesn't really rank well for most terms.
Who told ya they are undervalued??? Those who know about those two directories --surely know their SERPs. I can vouch that - I can gather 100 terms in less than an hr for which these two ranks on top 20 of Google. Is not it what is called ROCKIN? These two along with 3 others are just below -the 3 top cats ( Alive, Aviva, Sensei) among our community. Although Alive Directory -does not rank for as many terms as these two are -- I will still keep it miles ahead of these two. ( Rob & Peter -mates -you know why I think like this) . So come-on guys go for it--that is missing. I give both of ya 6 months to achieve it. Don't go my prediction wrong maan.
No they don't rank well because AvivaDirectory and AliveDirectory have become full of spammy websites. Simple as that.
trust me on this one www.xtremedirectory.com is the next up and comer. We are only less then 2 weeks old but have exceeded our predictions already.
I beg your pardon. Alive Directory is not spammy. Every single listing submitted is manually reviewed and 99.9% of descriptions are rewritten and conform to quality standards. I have not read this entire thread, but Alive Directory ranks well for a lot of searches. I don't know what gives you an impression otherwise.
I'm really not sure where you're getting that information. Aviva gets more traffic from Google alone than most general directories get in total. Our editorial process is very stringent. Every day I deal with submitters who are angry that their site has been rejected at Aviva and they point out it has been accepted at other quality directories. Plus we have several editors constantly adding new quality sites. Plus we have a full time editor whose job it is to re-review already included sites on a constant basis.
I have to support both Chris and Jeff here. I have a couple of sites submitted at both Aviva and Alive and I must say that, at least at Aviva, some of my sites title and description has been reviewed. Spammy? Both are authority sites. Oh well...
This I can confirm, I have submitted to Chris's directory's before and he even emailed me back saying he changed a few things in my description
Ohh Shit, I going to get red rep - No they don't rank well because AvivaDirectory and AliveDirectory have become full of spammy websites. Simple as that. I said this because sites who link to spammy sites have less value then sites that link to high quality sites. Thus, all a spammy site has to do is just pay the review to get in.
Not that the sites themselves are spammy, Aviva and Alive, but they SOMETIMES let in spammy websites that devalue the linkjuice. Linkjuice that would have been there if they didn't list every site that pays.
We don't list every site that pays. I know 100% Alive Directory doesn't, and I know Jeff doesn't either from previous communication.
Agreed... I also can vouch for them both sending traffic as well as my links being spidered within 10 days after submittion was made to them which was a few days apart. Thx malcolm1
