This search engine is rubbish compared to google, what kind of search engine asks for your email address before you can search??? This will NEVER catch on. Totally useless if you ask me. It put me off straight away, I would NEVER use it Theve got a LOT to learn. No one wants to give aways there personal details, especially not to search. Why use that when they can use any other perfectly good search which doesnt require your personal details????? That made me laugh They might as well ask for you credit card details, total load of rubbish, never seen such a worse idea in my life !!!!!
Have you not read the thread? This is in beta. When google's gmail was first starting out you had to have an invite to participate. Many things require you to sign up to become a beta tester. Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it? I still don't see a "Google Killer" though. Google owns to much of a market to be toppled over so quickly. An interesting idea none the less . . . Anyone else think of OS X's cover flow when they saw the video?
Their search results are very poor. Searching a particular keyword gives you dozens of results for some "no name" website, leaving off all the "biggies" for that phrase. As cool as it looks, it's pretty worthless.
interesting, but why don't they just call it mac-search.com? Seriously, cool design but it's not theirs. However, cool design does not give me easy access to the text I want to find. This would be fine for a photo search engine
It's a solid idea BUT I think it has its uses elsewhere. It won't be great for certain searches. Of course it'll have horrible results, and it will be slow until improved. It hasn't registered enough websites yet to be useful but it will, I can see this being successful as a web design search or something of a more visual nature. It's neat, why not try something new
i tested it for several keywords today it looks fancy but I love to see top results ALL at a glance - just like all conventional SE and I definitely love to have all dispalye much faster the principle of display may be an excellent idea for any small private web site - but never useful for an SE it also appears to be impossible to click several results to be opened in separate background tab. hence MUCH too slow in addition I never liked black bg sites anyway. such minor fancy looking SE never can become any threat to G NOR any other minor or major SE on the market already.
I searched for "forex trading", and the first website that came up was a scam website with some dude selling an ebook promising fast money. Not impressed at all.
Its looks cool. But. When you are looking for something do you want to find something quickly or do you want the website to look pretty when looking for it?
Of course focus should be maintained on quality returned results. hence why it's still in beta. I highly doubt they would release it to the public at large with it returning inconsistent results. That would be their demise. Indeed it is very slick, however, they really need to fine tune things quite a bit before any type of next step. I commend them for their innovative thinking. If fine tuned with good search results, I would definitely use it.
It's an interesting idea. I've done a few searches on it. Didn't quiet get the results that I was looking for but that will take time, as they grow.
As much as I want Google to have real competition, I don't think this lot is going to be much of a match for Google. The search is slow and gives info I don't need. Even so if searchme was to get really good Google would be able to buy it out, but I doubt they will need to.
All this serach engine has what google dont have is a modded script with cool features. What makes google the king of the jungle is their backend..... the technical side and thats what puts them light years ahead of any other search engine.
hmm. How to beat google: 1. Get good search results 2. Have a good image search such as live image search 3. Get a design like yahoo 4. Work with years 5. WARNING: Don't sell your site to microsoft or where's the point. 6. DO this for 10 years and you'll likely see results. note: IF nonthing left just hack google and add some banners pointing to your search engine on the main page. That should help you get some traffic
Man this really reminds me of snap.com at one point. The problem is that google is good because its fast, efficient and accurate. This seems to be too flashy and clunky and not amazing really. I don't want to sound like a jerk but people want something quick and simple, flashy is not always better...
noticed something interesting...people have started to register typeins on searchMe.com, good onces are already gone
Just tried searchme. It's very similar to PicLens doing the rounds on the social sites Will it beat google: No, purely cause you can't access it via different mediums, and it's quite cumbersome on lower spec machines. Ease of use makes google king. Also SearchMe's results are shockingly bad.
