I hope for some competition, hope that MSN and Yahoo get their acts together for their search engines. Now Google is dominant in this area, they may have gone too far but nothing much we can do. With multiple good competitors, they would think twice about doing anything that hurts users.

Agreed! Google is good very good no doubt, but power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely, we need more choice and more competition to keep Google and the rest on their toes. In the end we as users will benefit.

How many baklinks google shows has nothing to do with this, Google has never showed anything near the right amount of backlinks and has never been a problem for me.

You did read what everybody has been saying in all the posts didnt you?

This is to do with the latest drop in PR and serps for sites which dont even sell links but have been penalised because they do have outbound links on there pages which are not relevat.

For those of us who dont sell links we dont give a damn about the loss of PR but when serps are affected for something which is just plain wrong then yes there is a problem somewhere.

I say yes Google are getting greedy they are basicly saying you are not allowed to advertise unless you pay them and do it though their adsence, which sucks.

I should be able to link to whatever site I want on my website without the worry of serps dropping cos I linked to an irrelivat site because I like it or had a good deal or whatever reason I want. If I was spamming loads and loads of unralted links then thats different and I can understand the need to crack down on spam, but thats not what this last update seems to have done. It seems to have penalised just about everybody who has outbound links to irelivat sites on the main page. Yet as I already showed in my post a couple of posts ago they still let sites get away with it in links pages with 30+ links loads of irellivant ones in with them over loads of pages.

Love em or hate em...Their still King...The thing is if everyone started using Yahoo or MSN then they'd act the same way....People always have problems with people who are in charge...Maybe when WIKI search is in full swing it'll change things...only wait and see..

This may be the case but if google are the people to be seen with then start thinking the google way, and adapt if the market changes.

I 100% agree with everything he said! (was going to type most of it myself but he beat me).

For people who are moaning about google.

If you have a kids site linking to some game sites then games sites started showing porn. I am sure you would remove the link just like google removes your link when they see something they don't like.

Just because they are a lot bigger and have more traffic the same rules you use don't apply.

Finally O will always use google until it stops showing the results I want or something shows better results.

Yahoo already sold out to Bing. It will be Yahoo powered by Bing in the coming months.

So if you want to rebel against Google, use Bing and be disappointed. lol!
