Has Google changed their ads?

I don't check out my site very often, but I did look at some pages today. I noticed that the Google ads were kinda strange. Some of the ads where just "Phil" (my first name). Another ad was just "Google" surrounded by question marks. Yet another, a page dealing with highlights from an NFL teams 2002 year was just "2002" again surrounded by question marks.
I'm just concerned because I've never seen these ads before...... on any webpage.
Has Google changed the ads lately?

 

That's pretty strange.. have you emailed google? I'd love to hear what their response would be.

Ok, this is wierd.
They ads are all back normal...... relavent to my sites contents......NFL Football.
What could have caused it? I did originally go to my site from the logs of my C-panel.
Would that make a difference?

 

Yes,
I went to my C-panel and clicked on a link to one of my pages. It displayed the page with the strange ads.
Otherwise it displays just fine.

 

??? and small square boxes showing in an ad are usually ads being displayed in a language that you do not have the character set installed on your computer for. They might have wrongly geotargeted you for a short while, resulting in the ads being shown as ???
