I've been reading another thread about a possible PR update currently in progress or slowly starting. In any case, the visible public PR of some sites has recently changed. From what I read on the other thread, it appears that more sites have lost PR than gained PR, at least so far. But on most previous public updates, there were more gains than losses. This has caused me to wonder if Google has "toughened" its PR ranking scale, making it harder to get higher PRs, or even causing some PRs to drop (as appears to be happening on many sites).
page rank has always been on a curved scale, probably based on the sites with the highest pr and moving down from there... so if a site with a pr of 10 gained 20000 new links, that affects all the sites below it. meaning a site with a pr 2 could possible need lets say 30 links instead of 15 to get a jump to the next level of pr. that is one theory. however, it is most likely these sites will regain page rank as soon as the pr update actually starts. one of my sites was reset to zero, and all of the sites that were hijacking page rank via 301 redirect and the such have also been reset. it is always plausible that when people say they lost there "pr4" the site never actually had a pr4 and they had cheated to make the bar say so for linking purposes. anyone who knows differently feel free to correct me.
Only Google Knows for sure... we just speculate. Call them and ask.. 1-800-GooglePR they don't usually answer on the weekend however. heheh. joking of course... i don't know i've been racking my mind for weeks over this. Warning small minds cannot take much racking. I'm on the verge of loosing mine...
the update has barely started yet. The algorithm hasnt got that tough. new sites like mine that are going to be PR5+ havent been touched yet. Same with millions of others. But yes, they are cracking down on paid links, so sites will find it harder to get PR. Webmaster sites with backlinks from high PR webmaster sites will be fine. A religion site with high PR backlinks from a travel site will not do as well.
how do you say that your are going to be PR5? we never know about Google, they may do anything. You got it completely wrong, they never have the ability to detect which is a religion site and a travel site.
So... if i have sites that are PR0 after being PR Na and they have been around for a few months i could assume that they will be PR 5 or above? (assuming that these sites have quality backlinks) ???
We are expect PR updata which is the most care thing for webmaster. I don't know why someone has been updated depend on ? but i could sure PR update not from Adulu.com..b..com....etc ok, i think this PR thread may be lock again
Yes, Google is definitely cracking down on spam, which is a very good thing to do! I know that I personally get weary of searching for something and only getting spam results. So I welcome the change.
it looks that pr update has been started slowly but it has not finished yet. it's better to wait and see th results
I haven't seen any evidence but wouldn't be surprised at all if they adjust the PR scale, or in their word, optimize the algorithm. That is what hundreds of people do for a living, after all.
