Here are some thoughts on the subject

I don't see Google every giving up on the whole concept of PageRank, but maybe they're trying to keep us all in the dark on the subject.

What do you think about this subject?

It has to do with the google crawlers and the google results of searches.

I don't think we're ever going to know exactly when the Great Page Rank Update will take place; but I wouldn't worry too much about Google abandoning the concept. It's one that has been working well. You know what they say: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;)

None of us can be sure. If it still hasn't updated by January then we can start to worry. It could be they are missing an update out for some reason.

Yeah, I think google won't give up the concept of pagerank but it's leading to that.

I don't think they are going to abandon it but I think that eventually Google is probably going to take it off the toolbar. With the webmaster tools in effect you as the website owner will have access to your pagerank and that will solve their problem with people buying and selling links by showing off their high pr. That's just my two cents. I could be wrong but I think that is what is going to happen.

We are just working on an alternative.

Check the first link in my footer and have a look into the forum in order to see what we are doing right now.

You may also post your ideas in the forum.

Google will probably have pr for a while. It is a valuable tool. It helps you to establish the strength of a site's backlinks.

No one knows but everybody trys to guess. Its a valuable tool and unless they can come up with something better they won't abondon PR.

Surely it hasn't. PageRank is now a big part of the world wide e-commerce. There is no way that they have just abandoned it.
