    Hey
I've been pretty disappointed with Delicious... i don't get a community feel and don't find it easy to share content and get visibility.
What do you guys think? Any recommendations as to how to maximize its use?

No, hardly any traffic at all. At least directly...

Indirectly however, it's been a real boon for my sites, as it allows ME to organize my notes a bit better by allowing me to tag my interests in the form of which mods I want from vBulletin, Wordpress, etc.

Then again, I use it for my own personal reasons over a means of promotion, so maybe my views on the subject are a bit bias?

I do have friends that swear by it though, and they have found several pretty cool sites through it, so on some level it HAS to work. It's certainly worthy of using, even if in passing, or like I do.

yep, stumble and digg are the only ones which are good. The others might push you a PR up, but you'd have to submit it to all few thousands of diggering clonicals. lol.

Yeah I took the badge off the bottom of my blog posts because no one bookmarked posts through it and no one at all would come through the link. I think right now all you have to go with is digg and stumble. I actually do still bookmark posts through furl and mister wong for backlink purposes.

yes Del.icio.us is not delicious as what they're trying to say, maybe de.lirio.us is better than them. But digg and stumble upon are really good social bookmarking sites, plus I also enjoy the community, it's so active.

To follow up on my post above I have seen stumble traffic almost every other time I stumble something even if it is 5 UV's one time and 500 UV's the next. I have had traffic from Digg as well but usually digg traffic happens one time for ever 50 times I submit. I have found with a political website I have that articles take off on digg better. I have reached the digg front page twice and the traffic was great but actually only made great money from it on one of my websites in which I have CPM ads but on my website with just CPC I did not make as much as I thought I would because the CTR was around %.05 from the visitors that came from digg. So just my point is the traffic is good at times but the traffics quality is a lot lower than search engine traffic so money isn't as great.

i think i have added 100+ bookmarkings on delicious, but till today, from last one year, i have not got any one visitor, not atleast for one second.

in short, lots of web master submits url in delicious, but i don't think they have got visitors from delicious.

Stubmleupon & DIGG is best to improve visitors graph for site.

Maybe treat Delicious as you would a directory... I mean, when was the last time you got a visit from one of those, lol.

Though, I'd like to think that on the off chance someone did visit from Delicious it would be a bit higher quality then from Stumble, as the person is actually LOOKING for something other then a quick fix...however, unlike a directory, there is a chance of getting blasted with traffic from page one which would then act more like the other social networks.

In many ways, a site like Delicious is more like the true sense of going viral, as it requires a bit more effort to get to the top then other social sites. So don't completely discount it, don't remove your links to it, but don't be surprized if you get nothing from it... but then, don't be surprised if you get a LOT from it someday either.

@Qryztufre I got to agree regarding the quality traffic that could potential come from Delicious.
I took their bookmark button from my blog as well and don't plan on putting it back until i get some good traffic.
I get daily traffic from Digg but StumbleUpon hasnt generated much.
How do you guys go about building a friend's network from those sites? currently i only have real ones.

They do not call them for Social NETWORKING sites for nothing ;) Get yourself a network of friends and that can shoot a little traffic into a lot. As with all things, what you put into it is what you get out of it. If all you do is plug your own sites, then chances are you'll get a handful of links and a few visitors... get in good with the main crowd and they could make a mountain out of your mole hill... but it is important to keep in mind that you are in their community, so you need to place that community above your own site. That will leave you with ulterior motives, but in the end, that may be what it takes to make it worth it.

Take getting a mod job as an example. Ya don't get there by being a good poster alone, you need to make friends with the mods, the post whores, and even the admin of the site before you'll even be looked at. You need to be a likeable person, and simply submitting links alone is not enough to bring a social networking site to it's full potential.

Look above at how I use Delicious...I use it for my personal bookmarks, and nothing more. Though, on SU I have several friends, many of which will scratch my back if I scratch theirs. It can be worth the effort, but that effort can take a long time to become fruitful...
