I used Dreamhost when I first started online it's horrible
My cousin used Netfirms because they gave him a free domain or something like that and what he told was it sucked
Dunno bout the others but if they offer 900gb of transfer and 300 gb of space for 10 dollars a year then they probably bad

    heakset,

for your information, ix web hosting cannot be the best hosting basically coz it sucks! many "trusted" host review sites webmasters ihave talked to and many of my customers confirmed that

300gb of space / 3000 gb of transfer is not always bad. web hosts actually do not oversell their products - they know you wont use 300gb anyways, maximum 10 gig if you are a serious webmaster with multiple websites

I have an IX account and I don't recommend them. They were down a lot earlier this year but haven't been lately. HostICan and Lunarpages are much better. I haven't heard good things about Netfirms or Dream Host. Do your research and you'll figure out the right choice for you. Best of luck

Dreamhost went through some massive problems about 12-18 months ago involving lots of server shut-downs.

Since then - things seemed to have improved immeasurably. They at least claim to have addressed many of the infrastructure issues that were at the root of the problem.

I haven't had any issues with sites I host with them since then.

I've used dreamhost for about 1 year for some smaller
sites. I had a promo code for $97 off, and got a year
of hosting for about $20. No complaints so far although
I don't have anything high traffic...

I'm using dreamhost, no complaints whatsoever.

What I will give them is that (at least for me) they have AMAZING customer support. I can send off an e-mail and have a reply in 5 minutes waiting for me.

In my original post I said Dreamhost was horrible I guess from what I'm seeing they got better, it's been well over a year since I was using them so if they did improve good on them.

    And
So because most people won't use the resources some webhosting companies quote it's not called overselling?

    Lets put it this way
The number one result on the website in your sig says
    300gb of space
    3TB of transfer 6.95 a month

Say 1 gb of transfer is 1 cent (example price it's higher)
3 TB of transfer would cost 30 dollars
Add in the cost to maintain the account such as support, etc etc
Lets put it at 2 dollars (again an example)
so 32 dollars for the companies cost then selling it for 7 dollars
    how is that not overselling?

Just because a company can handle the traffic if by some off chance someone did max out an account does not mean it is not overselling and I'm more then sure that a large majority of these kind of hosting companies have terms in the there T&C to prevent someone from even getting to the means of which they say they can supply, such as CPU usage, Ram usage etcetc

IMO I think webhost that say they can provide such amazing things at such amazing prices are full of $hit

They are awesome, and they never oversell. Bit pricey for the goods though. But support and uptime are all top notch.
