The place is ok... unlike GAF, Elance has still got some quality buyers and providers in its marketplace. Though, it's still FAR from catering to serious writers because however "professional" or quality-seeking the buyers are, most of them are still only willing to pay a cent or less per word...

guess Elance will do if you're just trying to build your portfolio or something...

    Hi,

There are good and not so good writers there, if you're going to choose a writer from there I'd suggest checking his previous works very carefully and talk with him on the phone to check his English.

If you're interested, we're providing quality copywriting services. Send me a PM if you're interested in more info.

I find Elance to be slightly higher quality, but I've had no problem finding great quality writers from GetAFreelancer. Definitely take a look at their feedback, and their profile. I find a lot of freelancer profiles to be full of grammatical and spelling errors, so I avoid those.

Also, when you post a project, write in a few specific requirements. I then check the bids to see if bidders simply copy and paste their responses, or if they take the time to actually read the requirements and write a more appropriate, personalized and professional response.

From Elance I usually get about 6 bids, on GAF I often get 30, which I very quickly whittle down. Also, in Elance you can accept multiple bids - you can't do that on GAF (I keep asking them to give that ability, but no go.)
