Has anyone tried to submit to DMOZ lately?

Ive submitted 4 of my blogs to DMOZ last week and havent had any response at all. Ive picked the most relevant categories.....

Are they dead there or something?

Its just I heard that they suppose to reply to tell you weather you are accepted. Maybe all 4 sites were declined

I think the wait is months now and I didn't receive a confirmation email when I was accepted.

I'm sure some categories will still take years to be edited.

I've found that if the site is approved it is done rather quickly, there was never a reply of acceptance. I would, however, see a referral entry in my clients logs from DMOZ when the editor clicked from DMOZ to view my clients site. I've also waited months and years for quality sites and nothing.... seems some categories are easy and some impossible as I've also had mid-level quality internal pages approved, sometimes within days.

    No notification is given.

Seeing a visit in your logs means just that. The result may be that
    • The editor will edit and approve the site
    • The editor will decide it needs more work than s/he has the time and energy for and will leave it for another day
    • The editor will move the listing to another category
    • The editor will delete the listing
Unless you have someone on the inside you'll never know what has happened. It's best to treat acceptance as a bonus and "submit and forget"

I submitted mine two months, but absolutely nothing! I don't like Dmoz, I think the editors don't take their work serious enough...

Um, duh! If you don't like Dmoz why did you submit there?

And you're right, we don't approach it as serious work, it's not a job. In fact if you ask any editor they'll probably tell you they do it as a hobby. I know I do.

Such is the nature of Dmoz, or the ODP as we like to call it. :D

When I took over a category, it had submissions that were over 3 years old. More than a year is not uncommon - but there is no standard rule that is going to apply to all categories.

I submitted over a year ago, then again 6 mos later, and then again about a month ago. No luck. Is DMOZ still so important to SEO?

I hope DMOZ isn't important to SEO. I've submitted my site a year ago and still waiting approval. I've seen quicker submissions many other places.

I wish there was notification of acceptance or rejection to the DMOZ directory.
