Has anyone tried purchasing and using an email list?

I was thinking about buying a list of supposed opt-in email addresses but I am afraid of being accused of spam. Can anybody tell me where the best place is to buy a list of email addresses?

Email marketing to lists is something that you should look closely at. You want to be sure you do it in a way that is conducive with not making your clients/potential clients angry.

There are techniques which can be used to ensure this with some careful crafting I am sure you'll get response from this type of advertising.

You do however have to be willing to accept that some addresses will bounce and that email marketing, while effective, takes time.

Ive had both good experience and bad experience with buying emails lists.

My advice to you, if buying a list try and make sure they are closely associated with your own market. For example, if you run an online shopping site you might benefit from buy a list of emails from an online auction site (both shoppers).

Be delicate, maybe start by sending out only 1 email a month and slowly send more. Be clear, introduce yourself and offer them something for free. In my experience this reduces the opt outs

    Hope this helps :)

I used to do it at my last job - and it sucked really bad. I worked for a medical supply manufacturing company and they would spend $3,000 on a one-use list, that we'd send email blasts out to each month. The response rate was usually 1% or less, and I'm not even kidding. I used to practically beg them to stop wasting budget money on it, and put all of that cash into Adwords & paid links, but they refused to listen.

I did that 1.5 lac from goforhunt and really helped in my work, so I can say that its beneficial if you use it in right way and if you get right data, as data matter most in it.

Like offline lists, you can get hurt if you don't know who you are buying from. If you are actually buying the names, remember most of the autoresponders like Aweber will make you re-confirm the list.

I have always built my own lists. But I have talked with several marketers who have bought lists and I have heard mostly negative results. They all recommend building your own lists. There are just too many risks with buying lists.
