I have created a post on my blog about Link Vault (it's in my signature). I will be tracking my progress with the program and give as many updates as I can to my blog (if you wish to follow it to see how it works before making the jump).
I thought you could if they were in subdirectories? OPPS...please clarify this as I don't want to breach TOS
That's what I thought. This isn't a jab at TheWebJunkie (I have nothing at all against him) but what about sig links (or links in a post for that matter) pointing to a site that promotes an illegal activity? Could that/does that potentially create any liability or responsibility for this forum? I ask this as a general question (since I operate two other forums and have a hand in a few more)... I've always operated under the assumption that the laws of the country in which the site is hosted should be the determining factor, although in some situations one might try the argument that the country of origin should be a factor. Either way, in this case it's promoting an illegal activity, no? Please don't flame me or turn this into a dispute about whether pot should be legalized -- my question is about potential legal liability only.
Ok ill bring this thread back on topic since I have also tried it. What I like more than anything is the ability to control how many new links you get a day. Since reading the google patent, (whether they are using it now or not) ive been worried about link rate / link churn and now with link vault I can set my link growth for each link from between 1 and 20 a day. I have most of mine between 1 and 5 at the moment and seeing how that goes. The distribution of links is quite hard to explain, but you need x amount of pr1, then you get x amount pr2 etc etc. Also, my sites are in asp and I was fed up with the validation at DP failing all the time, which it doesn't at link vault thank god! Infiniterb I like your report! I know its early days yet for Link Vault, but has anyone seen any improvements since joining?? Sue
Thanks, Sue. It's going to be hard in the early going getting any real positive improvements. I'm still seeing back link data from DP, and probably will be for awhile, so the turn over might take awhile.
I have to agree here. Last 2-3 days, we've had threads on do you smoke pot, we have links going to pot sites; we have posts on people wanting to try spam techniques for optimizing. It's starting to get a little out of hand, really. Less and less good reading, more and more flotsom.
Guess it really depends on what country you are from. www means world wide web, so if legal action was taken what country's laws apply? In Amsterdam your OK amongst other things, In Holland your OK. In Canada it's a joke...if you grow it for the purpose of selling it you get a tap on the bum for doing it, and there is NO law against smoking it, but there is against possessing it. In my view if the populious of the world indulged it would be a very peaceful world . Nobody would be pissed off for long because they would forget why thet were mad and there would be a shortage of twinkies
Actually, the prosecution of cultivators and dealers has become more vigorous in response to the move toward "decriminalization" of simple possession, in part to placate the US administration. Also, since "possession" means "having it in your possession", I don't know how one could smoke it without violating the possession laws. As for the "www" part, I've always assumed that the laws of the country where the site is hosted would be primary. In this case, I would assume there might be some liability accruing to DP because it is hosted in the US, where growing, selling, or possessing marijuana is a criminal offence. Perhaps that assumption is incorrect but I wouldn't want to test it on any of my sites.
For reference, I have updated my blog to include my new findings using Link Vault. You can view it at www.clantt.com/inf
