Just wondering if anyone has had success with ads on image hosting sites. I know it has a pretty low click through rate but has anyone done anything that has been remotely successful? If you have done something that worked, what was it? Any info will be appreciated, Thanks
Selling advertising yourself works much better. Services like adwords dont work since your content really isn't targeted at all.
Unless you are paying per impression, don't worry so much about the CTR on your ad, worry about your conversion rate once they get to your site. I get some traffic to one of my sites because it has a top-ranked image on it in Google's Image Search. Very low conversion on those folks since they seem to be more interested in looking at pictures and killing time instead of looking for info and ready to buy. I would imagine that users from image sharing sites would have a similar buying profile....that is, very low conversion rate.
