I am wondering if a clone would make decent money, xxxx/month at least Has anyone ever looked at setting up something similar ? If yes can you please share your expereince? thanks
I saw one some time ago, that was still in development. If you ask me, I think it would be too hard. Elance and GAF dominate the market. It's like building another search engine and going against Google.
Cloaning is easy. Promoting these types of site is the real issue here. You will need hundred of thousands of $$$ as marketing budget if you want to become a meaningful player in this niche.
i have built for several clients The key is TARGETING pick a specific niche, and not just general "freelancers" for instance I know a guy who did a freelance site but for MOVERS in NEW YORK so the "buyers" were people looking to move and the "providers" were independent and major moving companies so it could be some guy with a pickup truck or it could be a national chain see how that works? Find something with a need, especially if you can limit it to a major city or a state to start off with here are some ideas: babysitter auto mechanics computer repair handyman service lawn care movering service storage painter carpentry
some invetment may be required but i dont think it needs any more than the time lots of losers on this board put in to chase those elusive pennies from google adsense.
while i don't agree it needs 100s of 1000s of dollars...it does take MORE than time read my article on the silly farmer http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=8366192#post8366192
Well, I was planning and I made almost all marketing plans and many other things for freelancing website for webmasters but later I was stucked with payment system. When you strart a freelance website then you should be ale to avoid chargeback (mainly in paypal). As well, you have to be able to accept all major currencies so that provider should be able to withdraw money from any medium...but I was stucked... But I think it has still great potential to start ine if you have enough budget and some great marketing ideas.
you can't stop chargebacks from paypal...but they do find disputes in favor of the seller on a non-tangible product. and payment systems are not integrated as most believe the payment system is just a "counter" or tracker in the form of "credits" withdrawals are not automatically done, but done by a human being on admin side who deducts the credits. if you take e-gold, money orders or wire transfers..those are not easily reversible but there is a certain amount of fraud you will deal with especially if international
You are quite right. In every business there is always some bad debt, write offs and chargebacks but that is nothing to worry about it. I am sure if done right, it can generate tens of thousands per month
Yes, it can but my mail problem was to accept paypal which is 90% of users choice to send money and I am not eligible to accept payment. That's why I was stucked.
I tried and still trying to find one but they can believe me so easily and me too when it comes payment processing. So, no try nowadays.
All you need to care about is to bring good clients for freelancers. Not $10 guys who want earth and moon. If so many will come to you from competitors, if no - just another BS clone with nothing new. That's it. So yes, niche is the choice. Less transactions but still good money with my thoughts above.
Thanks everyone for youe input. More comments are welcome from anyone who has any experience of running a similar clone site
Has anyone found a good working script of elance of gaf clone? For how much and what did you like about it? I am also thinking of delving into starting an ad company like adbrite/adengage...after all thats how google is milking the internet Has anyone got any experience with such business venture? If yes please come forward to share your experience
I have a planning of cloning scriptlance but not for freelancers.. My plan is for other service providers..
