It has been almost a month after the april 24, 2012 penguin update. Has anyone recovered from the effect? Is there any improvement in rankings in terms of 1st or 2nd page ? Is there any update going on with the Penguin?
Some say that site all the work needs to be done from scratch 1) Remove all backlinks bad ones or suspected ones 2) To start new site. These are the things that some of the experts have suggested but both are dam difficult. Is there anybody who has managed to get on top rankings?
I don't think is about back links, it's about unique content. You need to create unique content, google actually changed it's algorithm in the favor of the ones who create unique content.
How do you judge a unique content ? All would be doing the same unique content, and then wat ? How would you expect that you get the top spot. Do you mean i need to put all kinda of unique stuff to rank?
The penguin update was about incoming links, anchor text and supposedly keyword stuffing. It has nothing to do with content. You could have the crappiest site in the world with a good link profile and penguin would love you. No recovery for my main site, some of my sites went up even though I hadn't done anything with them. I was only using ppc on them, I did not want them to rank because the homepage just basicly says give us your email address. But google put them above my site which has new content everyday and about about half the bounce rate????
I just saw that I went back from several pages in the results, to position #3 for my domain name. Still the top first result is ridiculous - an almost empty site, with a domain for sale! Rankings for other search queries are also somehow back, but not as they were used to be. The more interesting is that I have never done any black hat SEO, spamming, KW stuffing or had any duplicated content - nothing! The positions I have gained back also came from the nothing - did not do any SEO recently, only the usual updating of the content/services and posting some news, nothing more... However, traffic isn't nearly as high as it was used to be, but I have just noticed the change in SERPs an hour ago, so will give it some time I hope everything be back soon as usual, as I have got so desperate that I had to start working on an external project due to the drop in revenue. Although only one of my sites was affected, it was my main and oldest site, so naturally most of the traffic and money come from it...
Develop unique content and quality back links. Besides that, update contents regularly. If not, probably you have no option left for regain the position.
Update on rankings My main site, again went into the nothing for several hours/half day, yesterday, and then back again - partially for some (and some new strange KWs). I haven't done anything nowadays except the usual content updating.... and still believe this algo' update is a complete joke (except for the ones affected from it of course...).
It's not simply a matter of unique content, but rather quality content. You have to provide content that flows naturally and that is free of keyword manipulation techniques such as keyword spamming or using multiple variations of the same word.
And what about huge sites that have 100,000 or more backlinks. Its uncontrollable. Wrong. I have a site with over 250 unique, well written, and perfect articles. It got destroyed by the penguin to make room for disney and youtube. ] No again. If you look at a bunch of keywords you can easily see that IMDB, Wikipedia, discovery channel, bed, bath, and beyond, Walmart, etc are ranked excessively high everywhere now. The only way to fix this is by selling your site and walking away or become a huge corporation and have google treat you special.
So, how do you explain that reputable sites such as Forbes.com, JcPenney and Overstock have been hit by the recent updates? If you've been targeted, it's either because you have been using questionable backlinking techniques or have been releasing poorly written, overly optimized content. Or, it could be that your site is sending red flag signals that are beyond your control. Either way, if you manage to clean up your content you may have a shot at a reconsideration if your backlinking profile isn't too problematic. If the sites you've mentioned earlier have not been severely hit by the Penguin update, it could be because they have sufficient high quality backlinks to offset the impact.
What i believe is that On page stuff is over now. Link building stuff has decreased in the manner which every seo used to do. Yes the fact is true about quality backlinks. And this is the toughest part in getting quality backlinks. But there is still more to it. The SEO game has changed. Its all about new things coming up. Sometimes content wins & sometimes backlinks. I feel after this update BACKLINKS is powerfull though content is an important part.
By god grace till date my sites are going good. Yeah a little ups and down is there but not big difference.
I think where you link to is now even more important - linking between your own sites especially if they are on same ip address or if they are all registered under one Google webmaster account is probably a bad idea. 3 way links are also probably a bad idea - one of my sites which did this got a slap - this site has lots of content and no paid incoming links.
Google’s current SERPs, spanning almost every vertical, are some of the lowest quality results that we’ve seen in years. Decades, even. There are literally forum profiles and empty blogspot/web 2.0 pages ranking for some of the web’s most competitive keywords in every major commercial market.
yes my site is recovered from penguin befor two days ago. now i satisfy with my works. I changed few onpage parts and do quality link for my site. Now i am very happy my site overcome Google penguin.
