Has anyone here Closed ther paypal account before? If so,what information did you have to give paypal? I heard you need to fax them copies of your bills, credit card statement etc. Isn't closing a paypal account a simple process? And who has re-opened a paypal account after closing it? Do paypal allow this? are all your old transactions history still there?

If it is verified and there is no outstanding balances (positive or negative), you can just close it without incident. I just closed my Premier account last month and it was painless. Of course they did ask you to fill in the reasons for closing the account but that is not a big issue.

If you plan to open the account right after you close it, they will indeed find it suspicious because if you intend to have an account, there is really no reason to close it unless you intend to default someone or paypal. If it is because your unverified paypal account has reached the limit, closing and opening a new account is not the legal thing to do, just verify it and you be done.

I don't know why you want to close your paypal account. You can just keep it open and not deal with it until u have a need for it.
It does not cost a thing to maintain the account.

no , if your account is limited then only you have to fax , otherwise simply go to your profile and close it . No after closing and again reopening you can't get the old histories .

PayPal don't allow you to open a new account with the same email address again if you close your existing one. However if you select a proper reason for closing you existing one & then reopen a new PayPal with same email address then it is OK. For example by mistake (chances are rare) You opened an account with other country & then you need to change you country or same kind of problem with first or last name. etc. etc.

Just like said by others here, it is painless if you have a verified PayPal with zero balance & of course in good standing (not limited).

I didn't have to give them anything. They simply just closed the account and sent me the money I had in the account. That was about 3 years ago and they closed the account without me telling them :( so I guess it's not the same situation as yours.
